A way to measure the power and strength of a cat's purr would be useful. I've had cats that could outgun a DC-7 engine -- that loud. Then there are the poor things that purr so softly you can't hear them even with your ear pressed to their mouth -- you can only tell they're purring by the vibrations of their chests.
